What did we learn today? | Lawyer
No man ever steps in the same river twice, and no artist can ever recreate the same colour. From the dawn of time, we’re in an unstated agreement with the universe’s true nature that nothing lasts forever, and everything eventually comes to an end. By design, flux is the architecture. We can see traces of this design in our everyday lives, from cellular turnover in our bodies to the shifting tectonic plates. Yet, we still fail to accept the obvious. Now tell me, is it not self-evident to oppose this force is nothing but to create your own agony? #change #existence #pain #myth #foreverisamyth

या देवी सर्वभूतेषु बुद्धिरूपेण संस्थिता । नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः ॥ My research into Jus Cogens (a topic of public international law) has led me to an interesting personal discovery. Judges while settling issues of international law often go beyond legal positivism to invoke the universality of natural law, meaning there is a realm of uncodified moral rules which connects to human reality. In Shaktism, a branch of Hindu theology, Devi Durga is revered as the embodiment of intelligence and conscience residing within all living beings. This intelligence and conscience enable one to recognise and feel that they have been wronged. Not every wrong can be defined by law. However, because Devi resides in us all, people have an inherent sense of justice that allows them to comprehend their own wrongdoings and the wrongs inflicted upon them. #law #justice #Conscience #wrong #बुद्धि

lan McEwan has used Briony's desire for a world "just so" as a surgical tool to criticize people's limited vision, as life's incidents and feelings are not monolithic. She processes every incident through the simplistic lens of heroes and villains. This approach is catastrophic, as real-life incidents are complex and messy. They extend beyond the incident and are complicated by historical facts, missteps, miscommunication, pride, attraction, irritation, and social context. Communication falters when truths and feelings are intentionally buried. The understanding of an incident can be fundamentally different for the persons involved and for the mere observer. When we factor in these complications, a simple misjudgement becomes a grim injustice to the individuals, based solely on visual appearances. #literature #perspective #Cecilia #Mcewan #Atonement #Briony #Lola

New world monkeys can’t distinguish between red and green. Humans can only see a tiny fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum, which we perceive as ROYGBIV—a combination of red, green, and blue. These unique combinations create approximately 10 million different colours. But are these all the colours there are? Just as the New World monkey navigates a world it cannot know is stripped of color, we too exist within the narrow confines of our own senses, confidently mistaking our small sliver of the spectrum for the whole of reality. However, is this truly all there is? The truth is far more complex and incomprehensible. #truth #vision #colours
